I decided it was time that I started to tidy up a few my short stories and publish them. I will add each publication to this thread as it appears. Some will be free. Yeah! Free stuff! And some probably won't

... we'll see.

Most of these are being published through Smashwords and may or may not appear elsewhere, depending on various technicalities. If downloading from Smashwords I recommend you choose the EPUB versions (if you can use them), I have more control over the quality of these than I do the other ebook formats.

This first has already been seen by a select few on MobileRead, it was worked on as part of an experiment in the Writers' Corner forum.

Gavin thought she was a dream come true. He was almost right.

For those interested in such details, the starting point for this story was the shower scene (calm down, it's not what you're thinking), and everything grew from that sense of anticipation.

This next short story is a little odd, indeed it is little and odd. There is a dedication at the end that explains the inspiration behind it, it would be interesting to know how many people work it out before they get to the end.

I have wondered whether I should change the title to something where the spelling doesn't vary between U.S. and U.K. Some people are probably going to think I'm illiterate just from the title. Oh well.

She wrote to me again last night. It was a simple post onto my wall. She, who I have never touched, is more real to me than any of my other friends. A story of obsession. It may unravel you.

If the protagonist's mind is one filled with an obsession, then it makes perfect sense to have this dichotomy displayed in the title for an effect.

This was an experiment that (I think) worked. A short story that is entirely dialogue, no descriptions, no attributions.

“It’s not about the money.” The story of a musician’s enduring legacy.

Short story (3300 words). Free at Smashwords.

I'm almost caught up on the stories that are anywhere close to ready to publish, so things will slow down soon.

I classified this one as Science-Fiction (it uses the phrase "conservation of mass", so what else could it be?), but it's short on science and long on fiction (quite literally).

“Roll out that chicken wire, Frank.” Science would never have thought of the chicken wire.

This might be the last for a while. I do have a couple of slightly longer stories that I will publish eventually, but finding time is difficult at the moment (making the above story quite apt).

You can't please all the readers all the time, but everyone now and then you get it right for some. Soon after Unravelling was released it received this review on Smashwords:
