Dead on Arrival. Advice Please.

Just received a used Kobo Aura HD. It seems to be a bit dead, but not totally. I'm not familiar with Kobo so I'd appreciate advice.

Here's what it does:
The white power led goes on and off when I plug it in / take it out of a charger.
The white light goes on and off when I do a pinhole reset, and also the screen flashes a couple of times like it's about to come on, then nothing.
It does not show up a computer when plugged in via USB cable.
The screen light does not come on when I press the light button.
(I think) I did a hard reset by holding the power and light switch at the same time. The led came on and stayed on, but that was it.

It suspect it might just be a depleted battery, but I thought as soon as I plugged it in, it would have enough juice to start up.

The screen doesn't appear to be dead because of the screen flashes.

Anyway, I'd appreciate any advice. For now I'll leave it plugged in and just hope it needs charging. Shame, because it is a nice device, though I got a white model instead of the black model advertised.

Think I got it to work via the reset method described in this post: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=215698

Thanks to the poster. Phew.
