Text selection / Dictionary bug on 3.13.1?

Today I've tried to minimum the margin setting on my H2O, and noticed that if I make a long press on the words located in the right edge, it would be selected without showing the right-hand side 'nail', thus without word definition shown.

The firmware is unmodified. Did anyone have the same issue?

Also, I would like to know if there is a way to change the font used by the dictionary to fix bunch of unrendered characters.

That bug manifests for most kepubs in the following situations:

1. KEPUB reader + normal reading mode + margin slider set to minimum

2. KEPUB reader + full screen reading mode + any margin slider setting

Apart from slideloading the book as an EPUB (which avoids a lot of other kepub bugs too), there are two solutions:

1. (For sideloaded kepubs only): Make sure you are using the latest version of the KoboTouchExtended driver to load the kepubs, and add the following to the book's stylesheet: div#book-columns { padding: 0.2em !important; } (The easiest way is to use the kobo_extra.css feature of the driver to modify the stylesheet automatically when the book is sent to the device.)

2. (For sideloaded and synced kepubs): Patch the firmware and enable the `Fix kepub side bearing font cut-off bug` patch.

Or you can do what I do, and just make sure my margin slider is set just a notch above the minimum margins.

This is a bug that Kobo know about, hopefully it will be fixed in the next firmware release.

It works like a charm! Thank you very much Mr Geoffr, I didn't associated this patch entry with the issue I've faced when I was tackling with the firmware patch.

Now the biggest problems would be the default typeface used by dictionary and it's weird stemming behaviours .

This is fixed in firmware 3.15.0.

Actually I'm using a H2O bought from japan, and it didn't do any thing with the copied kobo-update-3.15.0.zip... Is there anyway to force the update regardless of the locale?

You need to unpack the zip file into the .kobo directory. It will produce two files and a directory. If you want to check, the instructions are in the second or third post of the firmware links thread.
