Remove titles from start page?

Is there a way to delete titles from the Calibre Start Page without
  1. Changing the current directory
  2. Using Remove (which seems to wipe out my books as well)
Thank you for your help!

Start Page???

Start pages are typically associated with browsers at start up

Calibre GUI shows your entire Library (standard settings).

You could define a Virtual Library to 'hide' those unwanted items, then configure the setting in preferences: Behavior: Virtual Library to Apply at startup (I am not sure that this totally hides the full library, only brings the VL into focus)

@laldrich - if you want to start with a 'blank screen' you could create an empty library somewhere (...\MyEmptyLibrary) and start calibre thus:

Code:
calibre --with-library "...\MyEmptyLibrary"
