Cannot Import Books - Calibre 64 bit 2.25

Hi everyone,

I updated the latest 64 bit version of Calibre 2.25 and now I cannot import any books into my Calibre library. When I try the entire program freezes and I can't do anything. I can't back out or abort from the import window and Calibre won't close. I have to close Calibre using the task manager to end the Calibre program.

I tried uninstalling and re-installing several times and nothing resolves this issue. I also tried importing with several different books. I get the same freeze up. I don't want to lose my existing library. I've attached a capture of when I try to import a book and where Calibre freezes.

Can someone please tell me what to do to get this issue worked out or what the problem is?

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, I did try everything the FAQ spoke about, including starting Calibre in Safe Mode and I am still unable to import any books into my existing library.

The program still completely freezes up. Firewall and AV are disabled and I have not installed anything new since I encountered this problem. Prior to the update to 2.25 everything worked fine.

Please advise further.

There were no changes to adding of books in 2.25 but feel free to downgrade to the previous version if you want. Old releases of calibre are available from http://download.calibre-ebook.com/

Did you checked the current health of your Libraries?
Perhaps they are corrupted somehow.

Also Check the Health of your entire Filesystem.
It may have been damaged by some other event. A whole chunk of my backup drive became unwriteable (hangs the hardware

, blocking any repair by Windows or Linux)
