Fetch news from missed day
I assumed that if Calibre was closed during a day it was supposed to fetch a news item it would download it the next time it was opened but that doesn't seem to be the case for me, unless I'm doing something wrong. Would it make sense to add that behavior?
Otherwise, what is your workflow for this? Do you just keep calibre running all the time? Or have some kind of script to open it at least once a day? Or do you just wait until you notice something missing and then manually download? |

There can be no fetching of news from a missed day, since fetching of news is typically based on an index page/rss feeds, which change daily. If you have daily news fetches, then you have to run calibre daily.

It is easy to script, as ebook-convert (cli interface to Conversion) accepts *.recipe files, and will endeavor to match it to the builtin recipe file if needed. However, that won't add it to the library, you will need to then call `calibredb add`. Then run that script via a scheduled task (cron/systemd/launchd service for *nix users
![]() Another option would be to add a scheduled task that opens calibre each day. Personally, I don't use Fetch News, but I do keep calibre open. |
