Kindle vs. Kobo. Which one?

Hello everybody.
I would like to buy a e-reader but I don't know what to buy.
I would like to read comics in cbz or cbr, and some books too.
Since I read mostly at night in bed with no lights turned in the room, what would be best between kobo aura and a kindle?
I would pay a new kobo 69 euro, since I have a 30 euro discount.
I already have a tablet, but contrast is too high and my eyes hurt while reading. Thanks.

You'll be really hard-pressed to read any standard-sized comics reasonably on a six inch screen. Manga is ok on a Kobo Aura HD or H2O, but they're not in your budget.

Can you look into ways to reduce the brightness/contrast on your tablet, to add a layer of dimming, etc? What kind of tablet is it? A tablet really does tend to be a better comics experience if you can get it right for your eyes.

I have a JXD s7800b and I use perfect viewer for comics and moon reader+ for books.

I have a Kobo Aura and a Kindle Paperwhite and, while the Aura is an okay ereader, the Kindle is a lot nicer for a lot of reasons. However, I read novels, not comics. I have a tablet I can use for the occasional comic.

The Paperwhite has a lot higher contrast and a much better light. The Kobo gives finer control over fonts but the fonts still look better on the Kindle because they have more contrast. The Kobo does feel better in my hand. It's more comfortable to hold, but not by a lot.

If all I had was the Aura I'd be perfectly happy with it but I have the Paperwhite to compare it to so I don't use the Aura all that much.

Personally I don't think either of these devices would be much good for comics. They're just too small.

For comics/manga, a Kindle Reader is not all that great due to the wide margins Amazon uses. A Reader such as Kobo that allows you to display images that go out to the bezel is best for comics/mnga as the more you can display on screen, the easier it is to read.

The Kindle doesn't support those formats, anyway.

Neither does the Kobo, but it's easy to convert books with Calibre for either device.

Kobos do support CBR and CBZ comic book formats.

Thanks - I wasn't aware of that . The fact remains, though, that neither device is really suitable for the purpose - the screen is just too small.

My jxd has a 7" screen. The only comic I read is Dylan Dog

Out of 4 Kobo Aura HDs, 3 have been defective. Kobo refused to replace a single one under warranty, claiming "pressure."

I'd stay away from Kobo.
