Cloud tools for ebook formatting
I’m looking for cloud tools, such as websites or Chrome apps, for formatting and producing ebooks in the most common formats, or at least ePub. I mean something similar to Sigil or Jutoh, but running entirely online and requiring only a web browser.
Although direct HTML/CSS editing is technically possible in the cloud, I’d prefer a higher level environment that doesn’t require -- but may allow -- coding. Such a tool should not be tied to any ebook retailer or distribution platform and allow the unrestricted distribution of the created ebook files. I ask because I’m considering switching to Chrome OS as my only desktop computing environment, and I’m looking into what’s available for ebook production in the cloud. |

crouton plus calibre is my vote.
The two main ebook editors, Sigil and calibre, both run fine on linux, but are not going to be turned into Chromeapps any time soon. |

Thanks, but I no longer want to install and maintain Linux. That's why I'm switching to full Chrome OS.

ChromeOS cannot do a lot of specialized tasks. AFAIK this is one of them.
ChromeOS is great... for people who don't need to do a lot. That is why it was created. |

Interesting. How well does it work?
From the looks of it, it is a webapp -- so why does it insist I use Chrome? |

I've played with Papyrus a bit and I like it, it looks promising. However, it needs more book templates and text styles.
It's indeed a web app, but it may rely on some Chrome-specific features. |
