How do I persuade Calibre Companion to show the book format (epub, mobi etc) in the Book Details screen?

Using CC 3.6.3 on Android 4.4.4

As nqk said, the format is at the end of the path (the "extension").

However, as it was easy to do I added "Format" as a displayable field in book details. It will be in the next CC release, which will probably be sometime in April.

Also note that you can add "Formats" to the grouping drawer, letting select which formats you want to see. Long-press on a particular format to ask CC to show only books with that format even while using other grouping options.

By the way, when I connect to Content Server, tap a book for details, tap the menu and then select "settings" (the only available option), I get to the "settings" screen which says I should have tapped "Choose items to display" - an option which is not available. Am I overlooking something very basic?

I can't see the file path displayed, by the way.

Is your original question about book details in the content server? If so, then the previous answers are not relevant and my addition won't change anything.

You cannot change the items displayed in the book details shown by the content server. I will change CC to disable that setting when connected.

You cannot see the path because you are not looking at what is on your device. If when in content server/book details you want to see the formats available on the content server you tap the "Download" text on the action bar. If there are any formats already on your device they are listed in (content server) book details under "Formats on device".

To be a bit more clear: the fields displayed by content server / book details are controlled by calibre. There is a tweak in calibre, content_server_will_display, that you can use to tell calibre to display only certain custom columns, or not to display certain custom columns.

Thank you, that's what I wanted.

I simply added 'Formats' as a custom column in Calibre and now CC (via content server) displays the formats.
