Serialized Fiction on Amazon - some questions

It appears as if Amazon's serial fiction program is moribund. Is this correct?

It seems as if one can still create novels in serialized form, however, as witness these entries here on another Mobileread thread [see post #16]:

https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...=257084&page=2

Although that post references serialized titles from Kobo books, those same titles are available from Kindle and are also completely free.

They are all 'Part 1' of a larger or serialized ebook.

What are your thoughts on approaching something like this?

I was thinking of making one of my short novels presented in the same kind of marketing promotion.

Has anyone here had any success or experience in doing this?

Thanks.

I think having a sample of the whole is good but at the same time you can download samples of a book anyway so why have a separate category for novels? Also if a book is split into too many parts it's like they are nickle and diming the purchaser in a way. I mean if a book is split into 3 parts (or more) with the additional ones being .99 and the 1st is free then it still comes out to $1.99 or more so why not have it as just 1 book set at $1.99 or more.
