A Little (Mini) Question

Forgive me if I'm missing something obvious; I'm still new using this particular device.

I've created several 'Collections' on my new Kobo Mini. When I select: 'Library - My Collections' the list of collections displayed seems to be in a random order. They are not in alphabetical order, they're not in the order in which they were created; I see no pattern to the sequence.

If I create many more 'Collections' it's going to become more difficult to find the books I want.

So, is there a setting somewhere that will persuade this list to display in alphabetical (or any other logical) order?

Thanks in advance!

What f/w level is the Mini running?

Are you using calibre to manage collections or on the device itself?

Hello Peter,

I'm sideloading books directly from my PC without using calibre.

Software is version 3.4.1

That's a bug in the firmware that has been fixed but not released to the Mini. The fix is explained here.

Or you could manually install a later firmware. Any of the versions released for the Glo will work fine and have being used by other people here.

You really might like to look into calibre as a tool to manage your device(s). It does (among other things) make shelf management so much easier than creating shelves on the device itself (and recreating them if you ever do a reset).

Hello David,

I added the command line mentioned in the post you referred to, and now my collections line up in proper alphabetical order! Thank you for your assistance.

You must understand that rewriting config files is not the sort of thing I do every day! So it was a bit nerve-wracking, but I managed to get it done. I certainly couldn't have tinkered with a NOOK like that.

You're right, of course. I am aware that calibre is a powerful tool. Just a matter of finding time for the learning curve.

Yup the glo firmware works fine, I just tried it....I wonder, why they don't official release updates for the mini anymore? Did they abandon it?

They discontinued the Mini, so stopping updates isn't that surprising. I think there will be more official updates, just not as often as for the current devices.
