how do I clasify books by genre and categories?

Hello.

My library contains a few thousand books at this moment and it has become confusing to say the least in organizing and finding books.

I have previusly added the genre column, while this has been a good solution I am finding it harder and harder to find and classify new books. Eveytime I add a new book I get confused as to how to clasify the book and where to place it.. sigh.

What I am looking for is in some way to implement a clasification system of my books, eather Library of congres clasification system, Dewey system or some other typ. The question is: Has anyone done this and how do I do it?

If you want to use Dewey you can go to the website OCLC Classify http://classify.oclc.org/classify2/
