updating read-date read from cc to calibre

Maybe someone can help with this quandary. I need to be able to enter 4 values somehow onto cc for later updating to calibre. Read has only 3 values, yes, no, or blank. For me, yes, I read the book; blank, I haven't read it, and no.

I need to be able to distinguish a book I've read and didn't like from a book that needs more work to make it readable (didn't format right, etc). So, I mark read to "no"; I thought to change the date read to something like Jan 9, 1999 to distinguish the one's I want to move off of my main calibre files to an older file for those I don't like. But cc won't let me put in an old date, it changes the the 1999 to 2015.

Any ideas of how I can get around this besides immediately going to the pc and updating calibre on my own everytime - which defeats the purpose of cc? Am I missing something obvious? Thanks.

What about using an empty date to disambiguate "No". If the No has a date then it is definitive. If it doesn't have a date than it is one of those that means "more work".

You can do the same thing with "blank" if you need another state.

Perfect! I just wasn't thinking out of the box enough. Appreciate your help.
