Using US Kindle with Amazon.ca in Canada?

I'm in Canada and have bought many books on Amazon.ca Kindle store, now subscribed to Kindle Unlimited as well.

Can I use Amazon.ca store and account on a US Kindle device? I'm not trying to access features or products unavailable on Amazon.ca, just eBooks and maybe narration.

This is a hand-me-down. If it doesn't work I'll just get one from Amazon.ca.

You should be able to use your Canada account on it as the device you can buy from Amazon US or Amazon Canada should be the same.

It makes no difference where the Kindle came from, only the account that it is signed into.

Indeed -- the Kindles are identical in hardware and software. (Granted, there is the exception of the Japanese 3G Kindles where the 3G only worked in Japan.)
