Free (Kindle/iTunes) The Thin Pink Line [Fake Pregnancy Satirical Comedy Novel]

The Thin Pink Line: A Jane Taylor Novel by Lauren Baratz-Logsted is her the 1st in her Jane Taylor series of comedic contemporary women's fiction/maybe chick-lit novels starring the eponymous heroine (anti-heroine?), this one a satirical installment involving a series of lies that turn into more lies that just keep piling the lies onto of the heap of lies, free courtesy of publisher Diversion Books, who are e-printing it from its original 2003 hardcover out from Harlequin's Red Dress Ink imprint.

Apparently, this is a darker sort of comedy than one might usually expect, with a slightly sociopathic protagonist (as described in the ebook blurb, not my personal judgment, although I do believe that most romantic comedy tropes are kind of psychotic in nature anyway), and thus not quite light-hearted enough to quite qualify as outright chick-lit, according to some of the customer reviews.

Currently free @ Amazon (available to Canadians & in the UK) & iTunes (available to Canadians and probably nearly worldwide, as Diversion freebies tend to be).

Description (taken from the hardcover edition, which had the better blurb, IMHO)
Jane Taylor gets so blissfully caught up in the fact she's pregnant--subsequently telling everyone--that she can't live up to the truth when, mere days later, she finds out that there's no bun in the proverbial oven. But she is only human, and what woman doesn't want the kind of attention that comes with pregnancy? Why shouldn't she get a little attention: doors held open, seats given up for her?

In a society stricken with baby fever, this outrageous comic novel explores one single non-pregnant woman's need to cross the thin pink line.
