Sometimes you find the perfect bag ....

This post is ebook reader-type independent. And, please note, I am not shilling for the company, I just found this product, bought it and LOVE IT!!

It's a travel bag. Yeah I know .... big deal. It's just that this one has steel cable in the shoulder strap, which makes it pretty damn sturdy.

Anyway, I found that the front pocket holds my cellphone, iPod, pen, Kindle and reading glasses really nicely. I can also fit my Mighty Bright reading light in there as well.

In the main pocket, I've got my makeup bag (hey, I'm a chick .... ) and one of their wallets. There are side pockets that snap small or expand ... in the unexpanded size, they hold my sunglasses very nicely. Expanded, perfect for a water bottle.

The wallet I love because it has dedicated pockets for an extra cell phone battery, and extra SD or CF cards .... as well as a spot for your passport, plane tickets, money, credit cards ... and you can hang around your neck for easy access in security lines.

I got them both yesterday ... (both in black) ... and just thought I would share my review ... just in case you are looking for a really nice (not horribly oversized) bag that will hold your ebook reader.

How do the orphans feel about being donated? Is it like that scene in Meaning of Life where the Catholic kids are being sold for scientific experiments?

Looks like a great travel bag! Now if I only had somewhere to go. I may get one anyway.

Wow! Nice bag...

It's the sort of thing archaeologists will dig up a thousand years from now, and the contents will still be intact. They will draw all kinds of odd conclusions about how we lived in the early 21st century...

Love it!

Is it heavy? Before being loaded, I mean. It looks like the perfect 'carry around' bag for those long days. Now, did you get the 'passport' case or a regular wallet from them? Thanks alot, I'm in enough trouble for getting the m-edge case anyway.........

The bag empty weighs almost nothing. And ... I think it looks bigger in the photo (where the man is carrying it), but for a small bag, it sure holds a lot, and very securely. When not in use, I keep my Kindle in it all the time now ... (and the book light as well), and I'm quite sure it will not be damaged in there.

I got the passport case to use as a wallet. I didn't really read the blrub for it ... I just bought the damn thing ... so I was really happily surprised to find that it had battery and sim slots, room for all of my credit cards, my passport (well, I knew it would have a spot for that), driver's lisence .... everything but loose change (and I have a change holder for that ... so not a problem).

The strap is really comfortable. I wear the purse sort of slung across my chest on my right shoulder, and I have not noticed any discomfort (and my back gets sore very easily ...), so even packed with all the items I mentioned, it is not too heavy.

It's just a really nice, well made, stylish bag that is perfect for ebook readers (except for the larger Iliads ... it might not fit those quite as well, but then, I don't have one to experiment with).

I have the MetroSafe 100--love it. It's too small to carry an ebook reader, but it's great for sightseeing. Fits my Treo and camera in two padded pockets, and you can "lock" the zipper against prying fingers. (It's not really "locked" but it will slow down most pickpockets enough for you to realize what's going on--or for them to slink off in search of easier prey.) Once I get a netbook-sized laptop (I'm waiting till next year for the first flurry to settle down) I'm getting the MetroSafe 200, which is the one Ricky linked.

They have lots of other bags, all with lots of security features -- http://www.pacsafe.com

Oooo ... now, see .... I didn't even know there were other models. I got mine through Herrington ... I'm going to have to check out the other ones as well. The 200 (so that's what it is ... hmmm) also has the little zipper locks, however, if I put my Kindle in the front pouch, then those do not work. If, instead, I put my Kindle in the main pouch, then the locks would work.

Hold on .... I take that back, I just tried the zipper locks with the Kindle in the front pocket, and they work just fine.

However (and there always seems to be a however), the way the flap fits over the front of the bag, and the way the Kindle and my iPod and phone fit nice and deep in their pockets (and the two smaller pockets have safety tabs) ... really it would take an amazingly clever thief to get those things out without me noticing.

OH .... and I just realized after looking at the site, that the little turtle thingy on the front of the bag is really a earphone port!! Now that's just too cool!!

The MetroSafe 300 (which is a laptop bag) actually does come with a combination lock. Bit big for my taste, though...it would fit my current laptop but I don't carry it around that much and I plan to downsize in a year or so anyway.

The security features work well--just make sure you don't get complacent and stop using them!

Not me ... not likely. I'm going to pick up one or two other things that were'nt available through Herrington. They have some really nice stuff, this Pacsafe company. Very nice.

Ooooo, bags.....
I'm a Kipling girl of late, they're not theft-proof but they're funky, functional and have lots of pockets. I have Candy for day-use (cross-body convertible to backpack), Madhouse (satchel) for when I have lots of 'stuff' and the Palm Beach toilet back.
Oh, and they come with a furry monkey keyring that has a name and lets you stick it's thumb in it's mouth (or your mouth, whichever you prefer).
Can always go for a new pocket-y functional bag though.....

You know .... I like the Kipling bags, but when you are my age (on the slippery slope to 60), the cute monkey thingie is a little too precious looking.

And, by the time I've put about $300 into the phone, and $350 into the iPod, and then $350 or so into my ebook reader .... I'm way more concerned about theft resistant. It just goes so far beyond the actual cash I'm carrying ... but add all that stuff into the aggravation of having to cancel all my credit cards, and get new ID. I am all about the security.
