Sending page numbers by wi-fi
If I send a mobi file to my Kindle Paperwhite 2 by USB then the page numbers are also sent. However, if I send the file by wi-fi using the Calibre Content Server then only the book, but not the page numbers, are sent. I notice that the "Kindle 2/3/4/Touch/Paperwhite Interface Device (1.0.0)" plugin states that page numbers are sent when uploading by USB. Is there any way to do this when using wi-fi? My version of Calibre is 2.12.

No, you cannot. Downloading the book through the Kindle Experimental Web Browser does not expose the USB storage to the Content Server.

Thanks for the information. As a supplementary question, would Calibre Companion, of which I am almost totally ignorant, be of any use for this task?
The reason I'm keen for wi-fi transfer is that I sometimes feel that I am doing far to much plugging and unplugging with my Kindle. I can only hope that the plug and socket are much more mechanically strong than they look! |

Calibre Companion is an Android app.
All I can say regarding plugging and unplugging is that my Kindle is still working perfectly after several years, and I do connect it quite often.

Cables do die (flexing, smooshed ends) more frequent.
I did manage to displace the mini-USB (it came off the circuit board ) on my PEz. I managed to get the Body and power leads re-soldered ( tiny surface mount pins) with my through-hole era soldering tools.Always be gentle |
