Block Purchasing on Nook app on android device (XO Tablet)

I couldn't tell for sure if this belongs in the nook section or here, but since this is just the app, I'm hoping I got the right place.

Is it possible to block purchasing from the nook app? The XO Tablet comes with the nook app preinstalled, and I wanted to make some books available to my daughter on this tablet, but I'm not seeing any way that I can block her from purchasing. If it's not possible, I can just pull it out and install something else, but it seems like it ought to be possible to set it up this way.

I can't find a way to have the NOOK app signed into an account and have purchasing disabled. The app can be used to read sideloaded books without signing in and without account information there's no purchasing, but to read NOOK content, the app has to be signed in.
