Nag Hammadi Scriptures $3.99 Amazon US

The Nag Hammadi Scriptures

$3.99 Amazon US

This is a collection of ancient Gnostic writings that were discovered in Egypt in 1945. It's most definitely not mainstream Christianity but may hold interest to people who want a glimpse of the diversity of ancient beliefs. That's why I opted not to post this under Christian Interest. I think I bought this at $14.99 last year.

Publisher's blurb follows:

Quote:
The Nag Hammadi Scriptures, edited by Marvin Meyer, is the most complete, up-to-date, one-volume, English-language edition of the renowned library of Gnostic manuscripts discovered in Egypt in 1945, which rivaled the Dead Sea Scrolls find in significance. It includes the Gospel of Thomas, the Gospel of Mary, and the recently discovered Gospel of Judas, as well as other Gnostic gospels and sacred texts. This volume also includes introductory essays, notes, tables, glossary, index, etc. to help the reader understand the context and contemporary significance of these texts which have shed new light on early Christianity and ancient thought. The compilation of ancient manuscripts that constitute The Nag Hammadi Scriptures is a discovery that challenges everything we thought we knew about the early Christian church, ancient Judaism, and Greco-Roman religions.

Thanks for the post. If any MobileReader wants it, he or she sure can get it at a great price now.

I bought it sometime before. I'm not sure, without going back and checking, how much I paid, but I'm sure that it was much less than $14.99 then.

I managed to get my copy during the short period that Kobo coupons worked with all publishers, but this is the only time I remember actually seeing it on sale.

It's also $3.99 at Google Play, but it looks like the going rate is $17.99 everywhere else.

Thanks for pointing this out. £4.97 at Amazon UK (about $7.50) but that's still an excellent price.

I went back and checked . . . . I bought it December 19 of this past year (2014), for $3.99.

I knew that it almost had to have been on sale, for me to have bought it. I rarely buy a regularly-priced book of any kind, unless I want it for immediate use. I didn't need this one for any immediate use.
