Audible

Does anyone know if there is a way to listen to audible audiobooks on the Kindle Fire (HDX 3rd gen and HD 4th) that belong to a username account and not a merged Amazon Audible account.

I have reverted back to a username account so my Audible and Amazon aren't linked anymore. I know this rules out the actual Audiobooks function but I wondered if there was a way to get the android Audible app to sideload. I have the apk but it won't install.

I'm just trying all options before deciding if want to sell the fires. We have three which is really two too many

I would ask Audible.

You can't be the first person to have this problem.

I don't believe there's a way to install the Audible for Android app on a Fire without some serious hacking. The simplest thing would be to get a separate device for running the Audible app.

I recommend buying a Sansa Clip Zip which uses its own firmware instead of the Audible app. You can find more info in the Audiobook forum. I never use my Kindle Fire for Audibles. I use my Clips.

Thank you all. I didn't think there was a way but just wanted to be sure. I'm not short of audible apps devices, I have a iPhone, mini iPad, and an old Asus 7inch tablet. I just bought the Fires mainly for audio book collections (among other things). I think I will definitely try and sell the 8.9 leaving us with just the 7 HDX and a 6 HD, then take it from there.

I will ask Audible officially at some stage but last time I asked them (by email) if I could separate Amazon and Audible I got an email back saying it had been done. Unfortunately it hadn't, what the Rep had done was delete my membership removing my remaining credits and my wish list. A Supervisor later that day spent hours copying my library to my user name account and giving me a three month single book membership on that account to cover my lost credits so I currently have two almost identical audible accounts, an Amazon Audible and a Username Audible (that's how Audible refer to them).

I also have an outstanding pre order on my Amazon Audible account which is due out on the 28th, the Supervisor has said he will add that to my Username account when it releases so I'm loath to ask Audible anything else until we get past that date. The last thing I want is for some very helpful Rep to try and merge my newly created Username Account with my Amazon Audible account, I hate to think of the result.

I'm pretty much in limbo right now until I can establish what happens after the 28th. I don't long term want two accounts running, what I want is the Amazon Audible Account closed so that I only have a Username account, then I can ask about the Fires if I still want to.
