Lee Child begins a new book

Although it sounds a bit like watching grass grow to me, Andy Martin from the The UK's "The Independent" sat down to watch Lee Child begin writing his next book. The resulting article was an interesting peek behind the curtains.

Interesting. I'm sure I wouldn't like anyone looking over my shoulder as I was writing, I'd never get anything done. Curious that he claims it is the "only draft" - so there you have it, everyone, your way to success is to send in the first and only draft of what you've written. I've not read any Lee Child - does it show? (The only other author I've heard make similar claims is Michael Moorcock - and as much as I like some of his books, he can be pretty hit or miss.)

Someone I love does that. She's only ever had one rejection. Her first acceptance said she had some of the worst grammar and spelling they'd ever seen... but they still accepted it. She sells well, too.

But I think you have to be a great storyteller to get away with it.
