Best e-ink reader with android4+ 2014
At the moment i am using my phone as ereader and i use both Moon+ Reader and Kindle app. Ive never had e-ink device before, but im looking to buy first one that i am probably going to use at home and when im out i think i will continue using my phone that is in my pocket anyway. So it should be with Android OS and with version 4 or above(some of them have 2.3 but im afraid it will soon be incompatible with most apps), so i can auto-sync apps on both devices. But wich should i buy? So far i have found out that there is:
Onyx BOOX T68; Prestigio MultiReader 5364 Boyue T62 The best specs has Onyx but that is most expensive -around 200euros with shipping to my country and i think my first should be cheaper because i may find that i prefer LCD to EINK, or that there is much better models coming out in near future. Boyue and Prestigio are both around 100euros. Boyue has better processor, better resolution 1024X758 but has no CE so it may be returned to China by custom if i order it. Prestigio has only 800X600 but i can buy from local store. Is 800X600 much worse while reading than 1024X758? Or should is still buy Onyx with 1440 x 1080? Does anyone have used some of these models? Is there any other models out that i should look for? Im looking for around 6inch. Thanks in advance. EDIT: Or maybe can somehow my Moon+ Readers reading progress be synced with some other ereader with some other OS, Kobo for example? Last edited by tsekka; 08-22-2014 at 08:09 AM. |

I have a T68 and I'm very pleased with it. I use Calibre Companion to manage my books, and Moon+ Pro as a reader. It works very well.

I just sold my Kobo Aura HD, as the experiment to use it as an android ereader essentially failed (biggest show-stopper was the power consumption, but not being able to boot easily into Android didn't help matters).
In addition to the units you suggested, I'm also eyeing the imcoV6L (http://www.imcosys.com/e-reader.html), and it's successor, the imcoV6Lpro. Finally, although it's near in specs to the Boyue, the ICARUS Illumina HD can be found on Amazon (you mentioned that shipping the Boyue from China might have issues for you). |

Do NOT get the T68, I was also convinced by Harry to get the T68, but it was the worse experience ever.
Harry, why didn't you tell me and others, such as in this thread, about the T68 wifi defect? Had you told me about it, I would never have bought it. You only say good things about the T68, but not it's defects. Are you on Onyx payroll or something? |

Just because a particular device doesn't meet all your requirements doesn't make it a bad device (which from your previous posts seems to be your response to any device that doesn't work exactly how you think it should). If there is something you don't like about a device share that. Harry shares his opinions and experiences which is part of the purpose of these forums and you're free to disagree and post your own opinion too, but they'll carry a lot more weight if you refrain from attacking others. |

@robko
You do not know what you're talking about. The wifi on the T68 disconnects even if you set it to "never disconnect", as there are option to turn off wifi off after 10 minutes etc. This is a defect and is acknowledged by Onyx retailers, yet they are still continuing selling this defective product. Responsible companies would be recalling this product and issuing full refund. https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...=243118&page=3 |

I'm sure they are...
Wait and see. Don't buy the T68 until this issue is addressed. Last edited by FinancialWar; 08-29-2014 at 08:51 PM. |

Harry is not lucky, he has the same wifi issue, he just doesn't mention it when making a recommendation. You have to mention the good and the bad, especially when the bad completely ruins the device.

I think the T68 is a very good device. It's certainly not perfect, but for me it's the most flexible eInk device around. Last edited by HarryT; 08-30-2014 at 02:37 AM. |

At times I have seen a similar issue on a Nexus 7 (2012). I will turn BlueTooth or WiFi on in the settings panel, and witness the toggle turn instantly back to off. At that point I just grin and bear it, and power off / on the Nexus.

Getting back to the original question, I found this comparision of the Onyx Book T68 vs the Icarus Illumina HD http://blog.the-ebook-reader.com/201...-review-video/.
As far as I can tell from my research for an Android based ereader, the Illumina HD is running the most advanced version of Andriod - Jelly Bean 4.2.2 |

The Illumina and Boyue (they're the same device, just under different brands), do not come with the Google Play store, so getting apps on them can be difficult. You can't just download from Google.
Defintely something to consider (a BIG something, IMO) when making that decision. |
