Exclamation Battery Problems?

I've had my Amazon Kindle Keyboard (this exact one) for years now. I packed it away and didn't use it ever since I got my newest Kindle Fire, a year or two back. I barely found my old KK yesterday and found out that the battery was empty. The screen shows the empty battery and it says:

'Connect your Kindle to a power source and charge it until this screen disappears. This may take 30 minutes. If you continue to see this screen after charging, you will need to reset your Kindle. Unplug it from the power source, then slide and hold the power switch for 15 seconds.'

I've charged it overnight and more, and still now, the power switch is solid orange but it hasn't switched on or even showed any signs of life. (Like the switch turning green) I did the reset; but still no luck.
Does anyone have any suggestions or things I should do? I don't feel like scraping together money to buy a whole new battery if that is what is wrong. I might just scrap it if no suggestions work.
Any and all solutions are music to my ears!! Please and thank you!!

You're almost certainly out of luck. A lithium battery that hasn't been charged for over a year is pretty likely to be suffering from a terminal case of death.

A hint for the future: if you're not planning to use a battery for a while, charge it to around the 40-50% level, and top it back up to that level every month or two. Any battery will slowly discharge with time if not used, and once the charge in a lithium battery falls below a certain critical level, the battery can't be recharged.

The good news, if you care about it, is that the battery in a KK can be easily and cheaply replaced.

Darn it! :/ I was really hoping to NOT have to buy a new battery, haha.
Well, when the time comes and I decide to buy one, which woukd be the right battery to buy? I just looked at Amazon and pretty much everything on there was like Latin. (AKA I had no idea what anything meant.)
For the Kindle I supplied in the photo, which battery would be the right one? And how does one take the back off the Kindle? It seems to be kind of... unable to be taken off. (:

You buy a new Kindle. The batteries on a Kindle is not user accessible. By the time you spend themoney andtime to send in the unit for a repair like that, I know I would just spend a few bucks more and get a new device. New Kindles are much better than the old models and start at $79.

You can absolutely change the battery in your Kindle if you're willing to take the time to pop open the case. The proper battery is for sale at the website below, and there is a video on how to replace it.

I have changed the battery on a kindle keyboard and it was simple to do -providing you have screwdrivers small enough to do it.

The K3's battery is not "officially" user-replaceable, but nonetheless it's easy to replace (unlike some of the later models, where the battery is glued in). Just do a Google search for "Kindle Keyboard Replacement Battery" and you'll find a number of sources for it.
