Does the "Family Library" feature permit access to Kindle Unlimited?
I bought my roommate a Kindle Fire for Christmas, and would like her to have access to the many books I have purchased from Amazon. More importantly, I would like her to have independent access to Kindle Unlimited. Does the "family library" feature permit direct access to KU? It would seem like it should, especially since credit card information is shared, etc. If direct KU access is not provided, can I at least borrow a KU title, then make it available through sharing in the family library?
I know she can easily de-register her Fire and then sign up under my account, but I believe she'd rather use her own account, especially for public library books, etc. So I'm hoping KU access is permitted directly through family library. Is this possible? I could call Amazon directly, but I'm sure they will be swamped today and for the next few days, so I thought it would be just as easy to ask the many experts here. Thanks, and Happy Holidays! SteveK |

No, Kindle Library only gives access to books apps and audibles which you have purchased.

That's what I thought too. However, my roommate borrowed a Kindle library book today, and it showed up in my list as a shared book. I may try it and see what happens, as I was thinking about re-joining KU anyway. I'll update this thread with the result.
Update: Well, no luck. Not only does the title not show up, but when I select it and hit "Manage Family Library", it states the content is not available for sharing. Oh well, it was worth a try. SteveK Last edited by SteveK; 12-26-2014 at 05:03 PM. Reason: Update |
