<figure> and <figcaption> refused by Sigil
The HTML files I import in Sigil are automatically 'compiled' from Scrivener using a MultiMarkDown to HTML procedure. But Sigil doesn't seem to consider valid <figure> and <figcaption> tags.
Am I missing something? Do I need to replace all these tags by <div>s? Thanks for helping. |

Hi,
The current version of Sigil 0.8.2 has added those tags so that Tidy will recognize them and not try to remove them during cleaning. But if you try running flightcrew or try to validate it as an epub2, Sigil will detect that they are not allowed in epub2 as JSWolf explained. They are html5 tags used by epub3 ebooks. KevinH Quote:

If you are going to validate your ePub from within Sigil 0.8.2, I highly suggest getting the epubcheck plugin as FlightCrew is seriously lacking.

To that end there's this plugin that you might want to consider ==>> epub3 output plugin for Sigil. Its author Kevin H did initially label as 'experimental', the intent is to eventually fold it into the Sigil core product. You're ahead of the curve ![]() BR Last edited by BetterRed; 12-04-2014 at 08:13 PM. |

But unless you are using ePub 3 features that cannot be done in ePub 2, keep the ePub as ePub 2.

Thanks a lot for all the answers.
I guess I'll have to use Search-and-Replace in order to change it to some div, so I can style it properly. At least until epub3 is widely available. |

Even if ePub 3 becomes more popular then it is now, it will always be best to keep the ePub as ePub 2 when you are not using any ePub 3 features.
