RegexCase Changing

There are a number of times where a scanned book (out of copyright of course) has the first character of a sentence in lower case. I would like to change these to upper.

I understand that \U and \L are not supported in the Regex engine used in the Calibre editor.

Is there any other way to change case in a Regex replace statement in the Calibre editor?

Yes, using the just-created function mode.

A little overkill, in simple cases like this, but the regex engine calibre uses doesn't support those switches.

There are builtin functios for titlecasing, capitalizing, uppercasing and lowercasing. That should work here, although arbitrary case-changing would require a function.

Thank you. I hadn't gone there yet - scared - but it proved to be very simple
