Using Calibre Companion with a Kindle Fire - Questions
I have just started to use CC with a Kindle Fire. With some great help on here I was able to send around 2500 empty text files into CC (for the metadata).

Question 1) Will all of them appear on the Carousel. So far it seems that way as I have cleared around 300 tonight. They appear in batches of 29, as I remove one batch another batch appears.

Is there no way to stop Calibre Companion from populating the Carousel?

Question 2) When I sync with Calibre and send new books (again hopefully empty txt files) will all the books again appear on the Carousel?

I can probably cope with manually deleting thousands of books from the Carousel once but I couldn't do it more than once

This depends on the Fire itself. CC does nothing to put a book on the carousel.

Because it is the fire itself that is populating the carousel, no, other than to store the books somewhere where the native reader app cannot see them.

My guess is no. Syncing will not change the book file (the empty text file), so the Amazon app will not notice any changes. CC does absolutely nothing regarding the carousel, so receiving new metadata will not have any effect.

i don't get any additions to carousel, when I send epub. ( to downloads/cc )
it's unavoidable if you send kindle formats as they will only work from the books folder and they will get added to carousel. stupid amazon design.
but for text files, just change the default destination folder in CC & all shoudl be good.

Hi, thanks.

I've just moved the txt files from the default folder to a new folder I've created in download but they are still appearing on the Carousel as soon as I've cleared my current lot.

If I removed everything by connecting back to Calibre and then readded them would that stop them appearing on the Carousel?

it may be a choice-of-reader-app thing.
KF adds any just-used app to the carousel, but if you are using a reader that has it's own books database , like mantano, or alkido, then only the reader app goes onto carousel each time it is used, ( assuming you open the books from within the app ).
the Kindle reader is different, that puts each book back onto the carousel everytime you open that book that is one reason why I don't like reading with the Kindle reader. what app is associated with your text files ?

It's all sorted now Cymbole, your sugestion to change the location folder worked a treat after I did a hard reset. I guess it got in a bit of a twist with me moving the books. I created a new folder within Download called CCData. I can see it using ES File Manager.
