Import directly from Amazon/Kobo?
Hi all
I'm using the long weekend to finally get my collection in some sort of order. Just wondering if it's possible to import books directly into Calibre from my Amazon and Kobo accounts, or whether I have to download them to my computer first. I'm using Calibre Portable. Thanks. |

Yes, you do have to download the eBooks before you can import them into Calibre.

It is pretty easy to import from Amazon, you just need to download them into Kindle for PC (Win7 program, NOT Metro app) and set calibre's Automatic Adding folder to My Kindle Content.
Whenever you buy a new book, set it so Kindle for PC is the default Kindle so it will get queued up for delivery, the next time you open Kindle for PC it will download automatically and calibre will automatically import it. |

For Kobo, most books have a link to download the epub version. Or you can use the Kobo desktop application to download the kepub version of all the books. Then the obok plugin will add the books to the calibre library. It also strips DRM if needed.
