Sources for translations needlessly updated?

What's going on with the translations recently? I'm getting transifex notifications about source files being updated, but there are no changes visible (maybe some metadata like line numbers or dates are changed?). Or suddenly it looks like all strings in a file disappear, only to reappear in a later update, and disappear again. This is doing the translator's job more frustrating than necessary.

now-a-days (since calibre 5) translations are updated automatically on ever commit. Am guessing transifex notifies you even when there are no actual changes?? As for strings disappearing and re-appearing, is that some file in particular?

I think the last one was manual_news_recipe, it showed 2 strings, then 120, then 2 again (now I refreshed the page and I get 120, so I guess I'll receive a transifex notification soon).

Hmm dont have a clue why that would happen. The only files that are not generated automatically at every commit are the changelog and the server, the news recipe file is definitely geenrated.

Right now it has 2 strings again.

db_api, polish, plugins seem to be similarly affected, at least in the latest round.

Hmm that implies the autodoc extension in sphinx is not working.

Thanks. Maybe a manual update is needed? At the moment db_api shows 3 strings, but there's much more stuff in https://manual.calibre-ebook.com/db_api.html. Or is it take from somewhere else?
