Do you use the light-sensor on the Voyage?
I'm interested to know how many people find the automatic light sensor on the Voyage to be effective.
If you have a Voyage - and only if you have a Voyage! - please vote as to whether: 1. You have the light sensor enabled and find the resulting screen brightness to be satisfactory. 2. You don't use it because it makes the screen too bright. 3. You don't use it because it makes the screen too dim. |

For me it's working pretty well. I do let it 30 sec to adapt, and it always works now, so I will leave the auto brightness on and not touch it. I did have to let the device "learn" how I like it though.

How did you do that, as a matter of interest? Are you saying that if you have the automatic brightness setting on, and then manually make the screen brighter or dimmer, the light-sensor will learn that you prefer a brighter or dimmer screen?
I find it to be fine, too. Last edited by HarryT; 11-07-2014 at 04:19 AM. |

Yes Harry that is how it works. I have been using it since I got my Voyage. At first the auto sensor defaults were too dim. I saw on e-book-reader blog that manual adjustments while auto is switched on will change the defaults for given lighting situations. It has been working for me.

I found it was too dim for me at first but now that I have adjusted it while auto is on it has learned my preferences and works great. Very happy with this feature. Actually, I'm very happy with all the features of the new Voyage. Not a single disappointing thing about it. |

Very useful to know. I'll have to do some experiments with it, although, generally speaking, I find the default light level to be fine.

I've been happy with it. I'm not sure that it's learning how I like my screen though. I'm a tweaker, so it's possible it'll never be able to figure out what I like! LOL
As a matter of fact, I've been happy with pretty much everything on my Voyage. |

Most of the time it's pretty good, but I don't think it has a lot of different light levels it adjusts to. Pitch black and pretty dark default to the same Voyage light level. Most other light levels are OK. I do occasional tweaking. On the whole I like it.

Same here.
When my Voyage first arrived, I manually adjusted the light setting (with "auto" setting on). Just out of curiosity, I reset the Voyage and since then have not manually adjusted the light setting (simply left it on auto and used the default setting). The default settings have been working well for me... |

Most of the time it seems to get the settings right. A couple of times I have had to tell it "10" instead of "9". Now it seems to know.
