Can't access my server

I start the Calibre server in Terminal, with the command line (on an Apple 10.8 system), with parameters telling it to expect a username and password. I then try to access it via browser (on the very same computer) at

http://hostname:8080/opds

and it asks for the password, which shows that it's up and running and connects; but once I put in the right password, instead of taking me to a web page, it tries to add the URL as a bookmark (in Firefox and Safari) but never shows me any http content. What am I doing wrong?

Since it looks like (and probably _is_) an RSS flux, the browser tries to add it as a dynamic bookmark.

I don't quite remember the correct URL, but what does http://hostname:8080/ tell you?
