Can't Download

I've had CC for a long time. I use it with Cool Reader. I've never had a problem. In the last few days Samsung updated my phone to 4.4.4 (I don't know if this is part of the problem). I can connect to the server, I can see books in Calibre, I can hit download button and get message that it's downloaded, then the problem starts. It doesn't download. It doesn't show in Calibre Companion, it isn't in the file it's supposed to download to, and if I hit the read button in the download page it tells me I can't read the book without downloading. Help!

Answer: Android 4.4 "breaks" the use of external SD cards (I'm guessing you have your books stored on an SD card?). See:
