Download Metadata Sort Order
Is there a way to set the sort order permanently in the display screen for the download metadata function? The columns displayed are #, Title, Published, Has Cover, and Has Summary. The default sort order is by the # field. If I sort by cover, I usually have a better chance of finding the right metadata for the book I am looking for. If I use the default order, frequently the book displayed first is something other than the book I'm actually looking for. This is the main reason I update the metadata individually, and not in bulk, because, if I update in bulk, I usually end up having to go in and change all the metadata back to what it was to start with, and then do an individual download anyway because the first book found is not the actual book being updated.
Am I missing something somewhere, or is there a way to set the sort order permanently, instead of having to change it each time I download metadata? Hope this makes sense... |

I think it would be useful if in bulk download review there was an option to Mark books where the downloaded metadata was Rejected, that would make it easier to follow up with an individual metadata download.

This does assume that the titles were already grouped ![]() |

@theducks - yes, using last_modified as a 'guide' would assume that I did nothing whilst waiting for the bulk metadata download.
What if I changed the book list sort order or did an ad-hoc search. What if I updated the metadata of other or the same books (custom columns). And is this not the sort of thing that new end-of-job notify slide-up message anticipates. BR |

It still doesn't help in getting the correct metadata for the book that you are trying to update with the download metadata function, whether individual or bulk. With the sort order changed, I would have a better chance of getting the correct metadata.

The sort order is by relevance (as reported by the upstream metadata sources). Calculated relevance does not always match up with what a human might think is most relevant, however, I am not going to change the default sort order, as relevance is the "best" metric on average, rather than presence of cover of any other single point of comparison.

Thank you for the consideration, and all the other suggestions. I'll continue to cherry pick and sort manually. Much appreciated for such a great tool.
