Are you having trouble with you Kobo freezing while you read?

I'm having troubles with my Kobo Touch freezing for a few minutes, every once in a while, while reading. I'm just curious if others are having (or had) a similar problem and if so what they are doing (or did) about it?

Kobo Glos with 2.4.0 and 3.8.0 and neither one freezes.

I have had my Glo freeze while reading certain badly-constructed books, but the freezing always stops once I fix the problem with the book, so I don't count it as a problem with the device or firmware.

(The main problem is with books where the publisher puts the entire book into one giant html file instead of breaking it up into one file per chapter. Easily fixed by doing an epub to epub conversion in Calibre which splits the files correctly.)

Edit: I should add that the freezing doesn't occur at random while reading the book, but only when doing something like changing the font settings. I think it is just that at those times the device has to reprocess the current html file, which can take a long time if the file is excessively large. If the freezing happens at random then I think that would point to a hardware fault.

H2O, no.

None of my previous Kobo's (HD, Glo, Mini) froze like that. I have had the rare freeze up when doing a Wi-Fi sync though.

My Touch once froze during a word search - it might have been too common a word - but I have not experienced it freezing during reading.

I'm with this one. My Glo only freezes whenever I'm reading an ePub that was automatically generated by a site that lets amateur authors publish fictions...

Absolutely no issues on my Aura HD. Maybe it's a firmware issue, I'm using v3.1.1 and have no plan upgrading it.

So far I haven't had any freezing problems with my Kobo Glo. But I have hardly any books on it yet, so take my experience with a grain of salt.

Only time I get a freeze is if there is a bad file on the device. Take it off and no more freezing.

releases so far. I get that it might happen with sideloaded books (mine are mostly
converted/run through Calibre), but it happens to Kobo's own books too. It seems
to be happening less with the latest build, but I haven't been able to isolate a cause.
The reader will just freeze and then restart seemingly randomly (and often mark the sideloaded books as finished).

my koboglo freezes outdoors. i can restart it by holding the powerbutton for a longer time.
i only have kobo store ebooks on my device. and not so much either.

I have a hunch that some Kobo's are susceptible to overheating in sun light.
