Amazon.co.uk Certificate is out of date
I keep getting the message that my connection is not private and secure, when trying to download ebooks from Amazon.co.uk on Google Chrome. Apparently, the website's certificate has been out of date for over 80 days. What should I do about this? It only happens every so often, but I'm concerned for my computer's safety.

I'm not sure why you're seeing that--when I go there I don't get that message, and when I check the cert, it says that it's good until June 2 2015.

Maybe the download IP address is different from the main website IP address?
You can use this diagnostic tool to check that IP address: https://www.digicert.com/help/ |

Apparently, after going to digicert, the SSL 3.0 Protocol is out of date. Don't quite know what to do about this, as the solution given was rather confusing. I just entered the Amazon.co.uk web address in, and not the address from the download page. Should I download from my kindle library until I get the same security alert, and then digicert the address then?
P.S. I use Google Chrome, maybe that's a factor? |

You *should not* be using SSL 3.0. There is a major security problem with this version. I'm surprised the Chrome hasn't disabled it. I know that Firefox has it turned off by default.
Checking online, Chrome 39 should have it turned off and Chrome 40 will remove it completely. |

For some reason, my Google Chrome version is 38.0.2125.111. How do I get it up to 40? Apparently, it's up to date, so I can't update, or can I? And how do I do that? I'm worried now.

Sounds as if you may have cached data somewhere. Try clearing out your browser's cache and see if that sorts it.

Ok, I've cleared the cache, which I did by clearing out the browsing data. I assume that is what you meant? Will that solve the problem, or is there something else i should do?

Try it and see if it's solved the problem.
