overheated my reader

Hi,

I accidentally left my reader in a transparent plastic bag exposed to direct sunlight. It lasted only 15 minutes but was apparently enough to damage the device. When I took it out it was very hot, yet I was able to hold it in my hands (which I approximate to be about 50 deg. C)

The reader froze with the last image still on the display and doesn't react to any buttons, including reset. When connected to power, it constantly blinks the yellow LED of the power button. No other signs of life.

Any ideas on what could have failed? Damaged battery? Memory corruption?
What could I do except for sending it to the service?

Well, some improvements here. Finally the reader started when connected to power but it seems the battery is dead. While connected it shows red light on power button and despite being connected for about an hour it freezes once the cable is out. Then starts with "opening book" again when connected.

Seems like I have to buy a power bank for the time being and replace the battery as soon as possible

Buy a new device. Sony doesn't make readers anymore and it'll cost you way more than buying a new reader. Have you looked at the Kobo devices at all? Sony integrated their store with Kobo. Perhaps you've already made the transition with any books you bought through Sony.

It'll allow you to continue to use epubs rather than going to a whole new ecosystem.

It's your dime & your opinion of course, but I wouldn't spend the money on repairs.

Heat is a big killer of small device batteries; it is very common with cellular phones, for example, left in hot cars (even more so if there and in direct sunlight).
