Anyone tried Kindle Voyage + Manga/Comics?
With the Voyage's high resolution screen, it should be able to handle most comics/manga directly. Has anyone tried it? I hope to be able to read comics/manga fullscreen and without needing to scroll or zoom-in.
Kindles traditionally should be able to handle cbz's directly. How is this on the Voyage and is it fullscreen? My only kindle experience is with a K3, which I lost. Alternatively, there are panel-view enabled mobi, which can be bought or converted from cbz. Is panel view still needed given the high resolution screen? I would rather not go through a conversion for every comic I want to read, unless the cbz pictureviewer is horrible. |

Well... the Voyage only has a 6 inch screen... and I think even 7 inches it too small for comics and only just adequate for manga due to it's dramatically smaller format. And e-ink, even at higher resolutions still doesn't have the contrast of LCD or paper.
Still, I guess you could try it. Ideally, I would think you would want a full sized tablet (over 9 inches) for the ideal comic reading experience. |

Last fully working CBZ reader was in Kindle 3. Every new Kindle just added new bucket of glitches.
Conversion is only option. Not optimising images to e-ink screen (mainly gamma correction) is simply waste of hardware. I used K3 and KPW as manga reader - both not needed any zooming in most of cases (not counting rotated double spreads). Voyage should be even better due to improved contrast. Not tested it but I highly doubt they improved CBZ reader as they have Panel View MOBI. Sample showed in video linked by allochi is terrible - it don't use entire screen. I wonder if the Kobo H2O would be a better option for manga with its larger screen.

A matter of taste. If 6 inch is not enough for somebody then definitely yes.

It depends a lot on the original design of the comic book. If it was designed to be printed in a small format like most manga, then a 7-8 inch device like a tablet might work fine. But if it was meant for a very large format like a magazine or a typical floppy comic then a 9.7 inch tablet is probably the smallest you want to go.
