Kindle PW2 Software Update 5.4.5.1

We have a new, free software update available for Kindle Paperwhite 2nd Generation that can be found here:

This update automatically downloads and installs on your Kindle Paperwhite; however, you can also manually download the software and transfer the update to your device via USB cable.

The software update includes general improvements and the following feature enhancements:

* Sync to the Most Recent Page Read
Any books you're reading on your Kindle Paperwhite will now sync to the most recent page read across all Kindle devices and/or reading apps registered to your Amazon account. You can still manually sync your Kindle Paperwhite to go to the furthest page read.

* Preview a PDF in Pan-and-Zoom Mode
When viewing a PDF in pan-and-zoom mode, you will now see a small preview window in the margin of the screen.

* Read a Sample While Your Physical Book Ships
While you are waiting for select physical books to arrive at your doorstep, you can start reading the book right away by adding a sample of the book to your Kindle library. With this release, these samples will be now available for download in the Cloud tab of your Kindle Paperwhite in addition to your other supported Kindle devices and apps. Any previous samples you have claimed through a physical book purchase will also be available in the Cloud to download.

I suppose you can't, the only way could be to downgrade to 5.4.3.2, install jailbreak and then upgrade to 5.4.5.1 again.
The question is: is it still possible to downgrade from 5.4.5.1 using the no-eject-and-reboot method ?

That's not automatic, is it? I'd hate to have the samples of all the pbooks I've bought from Amazon since 1999 clutter the Cloud tab. I've only just bothered to update to 5.4.3.2 a couple of weeks ago from the original PW2 FW so after spending ages dealing with the Cloud Collections, I am in no rush to upgrade the FW again anytime soon only to find out that it does something that will really annoy me

Yes, it's possible.

quick question my kindle updated overnight got up this morning and my old screensavers are all gone but when I looked in the dir the folders from the jailbreak are all still there so is there a quick way to get them back or do I have to reinstal the jailbreak

Updates will wipe out all hacks, because they flash a complete vanilla OS image to the Kindle firmware. However, the jailbreak should still be there.

Just reinstall the hacks you used after jailbreaking e.g. screensavers, USBNetwork, MKK, or whatever else you used.

Hi all
My Kindle PW2 came with FW 5.4.2.1

I have installed the following in the order
Jailbreak (and something which is supposed to help Jailbreak survive an update)
MKK
KUAL
KO-Reader

I have the option to update to FW 5.4.5.1
I'm just worried that one of these won't be supported.

Someone please tell if I should go ahead and update or not.

EDIT: Well, Kindle went ahead and updated itself
The Jailbreak survived and I just had to install MKK again. KUAL and KO-Reader then became functional as they were before.

My Kindle PW2 automatically updated to firmware 5.4.5 sometime last night and as from this morning, I can't get the screensaver hack to work anymore. It is back to the awful default screensavers. I have installed python and linkss again and put the blank cover file back but nothing is happening. Help!

If everything installed properly, you should be seeing NiLuJe's default SS Hack screensaver. What are you seeing? Did you do a restart via menu>settings>etc.. after disconnecting the usb cable?
