Known CC crashes and CC version where fixed

We know about the following crashes that are not fixed.
  • Very rare crash involving the content server connection.

From time to time (once every week or so across all CC users) CC will crash when connected to the content server. It seems to be related to tapping on a category at the top level, but in over a year we haven't been able to isolate what actually causes the problem. We confess to being rather frustrated.
  • Very rare crash involving the grouping drawer.

There is a CC crash emanating from Google code related to the grouping drawer. We cannot determine what precedes the crash so have no idea how to fix it or whether it even can be fixed. Fortunately it happens very rarely, to one (random) person once every week or so.

The following crashes have been fixed.
  • CC can rarely crash when swiping to change books in book details. It seems to be related to running out of memory. As of V3.6.3 CC no longer crashes, instead saying "something has gone wrong" and staying on the book list.
  • CC can crash in Settings/Formats and Folders if an SD card was removed after CC was started. As of V3.6.2 CC no longer crashes, instead saying "something has gone wrong" and not attempting to do the requested navigation.
  • CC can crash if the user taps a button that will open a web browser but no browser is available. Fixed in V3.6.1.
  • CC can crash when returning to the book list/grid. The problem was introduced in V3.5.8 and fixed in V3.5.9.
  • CC can crash on startup in rare cases after a CC upgrade that skipped several versions. Fixed in V3.5.8.
  • CC can crash when opening book details in the content server. Fixed in 3.5.7. CC no longer crashes, instead saying "Something has gone wrong".

This crash seems to be related to opening book details on book A, launching a reader, coming back to CC, closing book details and opening then on book B.
  • Amazon CC V3.5.5 can crash when launching reader. Fixed in V3.5.5b

There is a problem in CC version V3.5.5 running on Kindles. If you have more than one reader app installed that can handle Amazon format books (.mobi, .azw, etc) then launching a reader app from CC will cause CC to crash.
  • CC V3.5.5 Google Play paid version crashes on startup. Fixed in V3.5.5a.

My apologies to the CC community. Somehow I managed to build and publish a faulty release of CC that crashes on start up. The Amazon and the Demo versions seem not to be affected.
