for the current e-ink & tablet range - is the reader GUI and set of read options the same i.e. once you are inside of a book do you have the same fonts, margin, line space etc. choices , - or do some devices have more options than others.
if there are differences , are they tabulated anywhere ? |

I've seen mention, somewhere, of a new font being developed for voyage, but nothing on whether that will be available to add to older devices also. |

I've been wondering if maybe Amazon will give us software improvements to go along with the Voyage's high price:
1) The ability to use our own screensavers. 2) The ability to add our own fonts. 3) The availability of more page layout choices. 4) Electric windows. 5) Power steering. 6) Air conditioning! You get the idea... ![]() |

thought so, but applying my question across all the Kindle family of devices on sale as at today, do they all have the same collection of fonts, the same layout controls, the same way of handling highlights, annotations, definitions, x-ray... ?
I appreciate that voyage is not out yet, for retail purchasers, but sometimes, some folks get theirs early for reviews.... if we look at Kobo they seem to be aiming for one unified firmware version that goes to all devices, but I've not found anything saying that amazon do or don't do that ? |

The firmware changes for one Kindle usually get ported over to the other recent devices.
Amazon doesn't just do radical changes to the device firmware. I believe there are a few more fonts available on the PW, my KT only has three (Caecilia, Caecilia Condensed, Helvetica) and simply never got updated, but I had to look that up as I never changed it, like, ever. ![]() Any differences are likely to be minor. |

If you find an older used Kindle, be aware that while all current models (plus the Touch) have essentially the same software, the K4 (Black and Silver) and Kindle Keyboards had the older style software. I'm pretty sure the Kindle 1 and Kindle 2 are similar to the K3 (Keyboard) and K4 but I've never actually used either model.
