Book cover metadata won't update

Hello there

I'm using a Kobo Touch reader with Calibre ver. 2.5

I've uploaded a couple of epub books unto my reader without problem. If I try changing the cover image in my library, it works perfectly, but when I try to update it on the reader, it doesn't work.

When I am on the Device pannel, I tried to use "Match Book to Library" and then select the same appropriate one. The cover image on the right handside pannel changes to the correct image, but in a small icon (instead of the large one from the books that worl correctly). In the column "In Library", instead of a green checkmark, it is a little square icon that when highlighted, says "waiting for metadata to be updated". If I click on the "Update cached metadata on device" arrow, nothing happens.

Anyone can help?

If you change the cover for a book that is already on the device (or recently deleted from the device) then you may need to turn the device off and back on before the new cover will show.

I can't quite follow how you are updating the cover, but this is how I do it:

- I have the "Upload covers for books" option ticked in the KoboTouch driver configuration, this ensures that the cover images are sent from Calibre instead of letting the device generate its own images by rendering the first page of the book.

- To update the cover for a book that is already on the device I use the "Upload covers for selected books" function of the KoboUtilities plugin.

- Eject and unplug the device, turn the device completely off and then back on again.

Updating in the Device View will only update the metadata.calibre cachefile which calibre uses to list the books on device.

In order to update the metadata in the Kobo database, do as GeoffR suggested. (you may need to set Preferences --> Sending Books to device --> Metadata Management == Automatic)

If you wish the cover to be in the book when you open it and page over to the beginining, you will need to resend the book.

Thanks guy, the Kobo plugin seemed to work. Weird that it didn't without it... You'd imagine...

My kobo is looking a lot better now!
