Is there a way to add the metadata AND also the filename in a custom column?
Can I add a book using the metadata plus a custom column with the original filename? Or is it one or the other?

One or the other. I have wished for this too.
![]() It would be nice if I could optionally set the filename to configure certain columns, and then the internal metadata would be used as a fallback for fields that are not configured in the filename regex. |

I thought that would be the answer but you can't blame a person for wishful thinking. It would be a really good fail safe for it to be an option to always save the filename to a filename column.
Gotta wonder if it would be something that it's worth asking for.... Having the filename available would be a great advantage when doing bulk metadata updates etc. |

I think it would have to be a custom column, a) because many people wouldn't want it, and b) changes to database schema are not something to be blithely done
![]() Maybe it could optionally be put into a tag wrapped in say brackets ( '[' ']' ) that an S&R regex could subsequently move into a custom column. BR |

Considering that any method would require a change of some sort, I think the simplest/most useful would be to simply allow a checkbox "Fallback on embedded metadata for non-configured metadata types".

My big problem with most of my pdf files is bad metadata. The title and author is not good at all. |
