Dying to Read by Lorena McCourtney is the 1st in her Cate Kinkaid Files series of cozy-ish humorous mysteries with romantic elements starring the eponymous trainee PI as the temporarily amateur sleuth, this installment setting up the obligatory 1st case for what's bound to be what the Amelia Peabody books always called "every year, another dead body", free courtesy of Christian publisher Baker's Revell imprint.

The customer reviews frequently call this a cozy, and note that while there are inspirational elements, this series generally did not strike them as particularly preachy in tone (though YMMV depending on what you're used to) and the faith mentions consisted mainly of the main character occasionally going to church and praying for guidance.

Currently free, probably just for one day (maybe for much longer if they're adding this to their long-term freebie selection like some of the other 1st-in-series novels like McCourtney's similar not-too-preachy Christian cozy mystery Invisible, which is a long-term freebie still available in multiple stores, and has been on and off since 2010) @ B&N (may also drop in the UK), Amazon UK (slated to drop in the main store after midnight Pacific Time), Kobo & Google Play (both available to Canadians), and Christian Book (ADE-DRM ePub available worldwide).

Pretty much by default (that KJV Apocrypha thing would have gotten the nod if it had come with commentary, since while I'm not interested in such myself, I do appreciate a good quasi-scholarly volume being offered), but it's a nice change of pace to get something with what looks like a decent level of potential crossover cross-genre appeal.
