Author and Series Split

Hi guys, I've been using Calibre for a while now and I love the customisability, it's truly fantastic.

However, I have one problem that's been bamboozling me for a while now.

I have all my books listed by author, and then ideally I'd then like them to be ordered by series. However when I click the appropriate columns to sort, it separates all my books into two sections, those without a series and those with, so it's two (alphabetised by author) lists instead of one.

Any ideas as to what I can do to rectify this?

I hope this is clear enough, thanks!

@BrainChomp - I avoid the 'issue' via the View Manager plugin.

You want the authors non-series books interleaved with the series books?
Assumes default sort level in tweaks

Click Title (click again if the direction is wrong)
Click Author (click again if the direction is wrong)
Click Series (click again if the direction is wrong)
Click Author

the non series books should be above the series
The first click, bias sorted title for non-series
The last click arrives with a Biased author sort
