Hello,
after many years of good service my Kindle start to having trouble with display. Fonts on some books started to look ugly and pictures are messed up. It is nicely visible on screensaver. There are two strange things: 1. when turning off correct screensaver picture blink for few seconds 2. fonts on some books are Ok and if I take a book and convert it in Calibre to mobi it is usually OK. Also list of books is OK. For me it seems it is not problem with harware but software. I have latest firmware, never did jailbreak or install alternative firmware. I tried several soft and hard resets and also try to discharge battery and keep it for few days turned off, with no success. I upload few examples to https://www.dropbox.com/sh/8lzsmk0pe...0a/kindle?dl=0 (same as I tried to attach here). I would welcome any help or hints! |

Your screen has lost all the greyscales - it's only displaying "black" and "white" - nothing in between. Unfortunately this generally indicates a problem with the display control. ie, it is a hardware problem. It won't get any worse - it's really a question of whether you can live with it the way it is.

Keep an eye open on amazon. They may come back with some new K3 as we get close to Christmas ... I got a New K3 in Nov 2013!

Just had mine do this too. Seems to be a hardware failure, possibly related to a prolonged empty battery. It's not a screen problem, as far as I have been able to determine.
If you contact Amazon, they will offer you a refurbished unit at a discount. However, the offers in the UK were not attractive due to the new models that have just been announced. |
