Wonderful new Kindle ad from India

Has anyone seen this? Really different from any Kindle ad I've seen before!

Nice. The 'reading on the pot' scene made me laugh -- didn't expect that.

Yeah... I was thinking that'd be a great ad for the H2O... he drops it in the water when the kids show up, picks it up, wipes it off, and keeps using it. :-)

Yes, this is very nice, but he's a VERY foolish young man for not using a case.

He also should not be biting his fingernails.

ADDED: This is really a very BEAUTIFUL advertising promotion. I'm in awe of the way the Director set the pacing and mood, and how he told a wonderful story.

When I saw the thunderstorm, though, my mind flashed to a Kobo Aura H20.

I never use a case, only a sleeve for travel. I've done so since 2007. I guess that makes me a very foolish woman.

There have been several "I've dropped my Kindle and it's broken" threads on the forum over the last week or so, so it's certainly a risk, but clearly it's your decision whether the risk is worth taking or not

Makes me want to take my PW2 out of the draw and use it, again. Who needs a Voyage???!!! Dang that Dec. 3rd ship date.

I actually did knock my PW1 to my carpeted floor (bed clothes grabbed it) - several times - just before I received my Voyage. No harm at all. I took that as an omen that it needed to be replaced. Until then, and since, never a fall or drop, unlike my cell phone and tablets (also caseless except for silicone). Saints be praised! I am extremely careful with all my Kindles. Two hands when transporting without a case, etc. I have a feeling that I can have all of them cremated with me when I go.

And of course ..... if he used a case IN THE AD then you couldn't tell whether it was a kindle or some other reading device. So for the purposes of the ad, of course he doesn't use a case!

I was waiting for the Kindle to go flying out of his hands into the ocean as he was waving it about. I think he should have been using an H2O so if the Reader did go flying into the water, at least it would still work.

But to be honest, it really is bad practice for Amazon to show a Kindle like that without a cover. That just says to people that it is OK to use a Kindle without a cover.

We recently had a thread here on MR where the naked Reader slipped off a night table and broke. So for those getting a $200 Voyage, a cover is not that much of an investment to keep it safe.

It doesn't need to work for the most parts of most of the scenes. Just like any other mishap in a staged, recorded event, when the Kindle prop is lost or visibly damaged, they simply fish another returned for screen gradient issue sample out of the box and resume recording.
