Borrowed book crashes my libra h20
Device: Kobo Libra H2O
Software: 4.30.18838 Yesterday I tried to load a borrowed book from a library with Adobe Digital Editions to my Kobo Libra H2O. This process works for most books that I try to load. I borrowed a book that is 38 MB - it has many images inside. It just crashes my kobo when I try to load it. Then kobo reboots. Do you have any suggestions on how can I open this book on kobo? The book is DRM protected and in epub format. As I'm interested in buying Libra 2, the same would probably happen, right? |

Standard reply. Maybe post the book's name so others can investigate

Have you viewed ebooks with pictures on your device previously? In my opinion ereaders don't render pictures well, they are often grainy or hard to clearly see and don't look anywhere near as good as they should or you'd want them to. And, of course, on the ereader they're not in colour. Instead I'd recommend only viewing ebooks that have a lot of photos, or maps, or diagrams etc on a pc or tablet device, using an app like moonreader or app of choice. That sort of device should render those sort of images well, allowing for best visual representation, and in colour. You haven't said what format the ebook you want to borrow is published in, and as it's borrowed I'm guessing there's only one format on offer. That said, viewing it on a pc or tablet 38mb won't be a problem. EDIT Ah, just remembered that as a borrowed ebook you'd need to either read the book using ADE or another app that renders borrowed ebooks. I think kobo might have a tablet app, not sure ![]() (Yes, i checked, kobo does have an app you can use on a tablet, which means you can borrow using your tablet rather than your ereader) Last edited by Lynx-lynx; 11-20-2021 at 03:17 PM. |

Thanks for your answers.
The book is a Slovenian book: Ivan Sivec, Zgodbe o celjskih grofih in knezih - not sure if this will be helpful. It is in epub format. AFAIK it is not possible to strip DRM from ebooks that were borrowed from a library so image stripping is not possible. I tried to open the book with Plato reader on my kobo and it also failed. |

I'm going to write to the library if they can open the book on their ereaders.

As a by the way, do you have a tablet that you can install fhe kobo app on? You can authorise that for library ebooks too. Last edited by Lynx-lynx; 11-21-2021 at 04:37 AM. |

John F, the https://github.com/noDRM/DeDRM_tools...master/FAQs.md, it says:
You must own the ebook - the tools won't work on library ebooks or rented ebooks or books from a friend. I borrowed this book from a library. |

I asked the library and the problem is with the book formatting.
