Can books be trnasferred from kobo desktop to a micros SD card?

Just as the title asks. Is there a way to transfer books directly from Kobo desktop to a micro SD card inserted in my PC? If not how do I get Kobo books onto a micro sd card?

If you run Calibre you can choose to install your books onto the main memory OR the SD card. From what I read about the kobo is that it won't start using the SD card as storage until the main memory is full.

Books using Kobo's desktop will only go to the sd card when the main memory is full.

But calibrr will allow you to use the sd card 100 percent of the time. The advantage is that the memory card will remain intact if you do a factory reset which erases the main memory of the unit as it restores the unit. You will have to process the books again to have the reader see them but if your on vacation your books will not be lost.

I can't quite work out how that question came out of the earlier posts, but yes. Sideloaded kepubs on the device can be added into calibre from the device list. And books with the extension ".kepub" will be added as kepubs.

No, he probably didn't as he didn't answer the question asked and pointed strait to a third-party solution (Calibre) how to get books on external media.
IMO the question is about books from the Desktop (Kobo original kepubs, protected with DRM).

His answer is correct but implies:
* you can copy manually kepub and epub files to mSD media.
* using Calibre it implies that these books are DRM free, (a) drm has been removed from original kepubs (which is illegal), (b) books are homebrew kepubs (converted) a.k.a. sideloaded kepubs.

but original kepubs in the Library of the Kobo Desktop software are protected with DRM.

I agree, it can be convenient to store all books on removable media instead of internal memory. DRM protected books can't be read on many other devices anyway (just a few), as books are locked/limited to (a) single user account, and (b) device authentication.

It would be a great option if the user could specify the preferred download location on connected ereaders.

Minor nit, not all .kepub.epub ebooks are DRMed. It's up to the publisher to make that decision in the same fashion as with .epub ebooks.

As an example, I purchased the first four books in Christopher Stasheff's Her Majesty's Wizard series which are not DRMed.

Regards,
David
