Reader won't go out of Opening book

Hello everyone,

My father has some problems with his PRS-T1 and I'd like to clarify some things before taking my next steps:
- Can a PRS-T1 run only on AC-power or does it always run from the battery?
- If the battery is dead, is it possible that the "Opening book" page stays on the screen or does the screen go white?

I have the following problems:
The screen stays on the "Opening book" page and I cannot access it with the computer. It does not respond to a hard reset and the soft reset does "something" with the device because the power light goes yellow but the screen does not change at all. It looks similar to this tread.

I havent tried the recovery SD yet because I don't know the exact firmware version and I understood that you have to get the right one?

Thank you in advance for all the help!

The battery runs so long that you don't have to worry about it. Besides a portable device being used with a stationary power supply (AC-power) is a contradiction in terms . It's far far far away from what a cellphone is .

The screen needs power only when redrawn - therefore it remains with the last image even if the device is shut down or locked or defective. One cannot judge the status of the Sony based solely on what it displays - again very different from any other type of device (cellphone, laptop etc).

The one time the battery in my PRS-T1 ran down completely, the screen went white.

Hello everyone,

I've done a few things but sadly the PRS-T1 stays in his opening-book-loop:
- I've done a recovery using recovery SD 1.00.04. The update went well but after the update I restarted the device and it stayed the same.

- I checked the battery voltage and this was 3.7 volt, so I guess I can rule out the battery for low battery power.

Are there any possibilities concerning solving this issue?

I assume you have made sure the device is fully charged... leave it on charge overnight take out the sd card and try a soft reset again .. if that works then the culprit is your sd card .. if you get the device to the main screen try reinserting the sd card to see if it works .. if it doesnt then if you can load the card on your pc reformat it and try again if you still have problems get a new sd card .. remember you have enuff internal memory on the T1 to sore a 1000 plus books... good luck...

Thank you for tour responce.
Sadly the culprit is the internal memory.
The reader just won't boot.
Soft reset and hard reset do not have any effect so that's why I tried the recovery SD.
It seems as the internal memory is "broken"??
Is that even possible?
