Kindle reader app
I have the Kindle reader app for Samsung installed on my phone. I haven't used CC in a while, but today I downloaded two books to my Galaxy Note 3, and it worked fine. But when I opened the Kindle app, those books weren't there. I then opened CC and when I selected Reading for one of the books I was presented with Moon Reader+ as my choice for mobi reader. I can obviously do that, but I got curious as to why Kindle might have been dropped.

CC offers the Kindle for Android (K4A) only if the books are .mobi, .prc, or .azw*; and are in /kindle, /Android/data/com.amazon.kindle/files, or /Books. Are both of these true? You set the folders in CC's settings.
K4A has the same conditions (or perhaps more strict) before it will show books in its bookshelf. Last edited by chaley; 08-21-2014 at 04:25 AM. |

Samsung offers its own kindle app? I didn't know that. Given the hoops we had to jump through to get K4A to open at all, I am not surprised that the Samsung app does nothing.

I didn't Think to check folder settings in CC. That might explain the problem. I Think the Samsung app uses the same folders as the regular Kindle app. As far as I can tell the difference is the choice of four free boks in the Carousel screen and the desktop Icon. Otherwise I Believe they are exactly the same.

Books sent by CC (I've only tried azw3) to /kindle can certainly be seen by both standard Kindle for Android and the Samsung version installed on the same device.
If you open the book via CC it opens the standard K4A app, not the Samsung one. Both apps seem to maintain their own version of your current position in the book. |

![]() My goal is to add the samsung app as an alternative kindle app, presenting it along with K4A if it is installed and the chosen book is in the right place and has a supported extension. |

It's com.amazon.kindlefs I'm not sure how serious Samsung is about this app. The initial install was in April 2014 with no upgrades since then. Standard K4A has been updated a few times in the same period.
